Internet Application Developer
Location: Westmont, IL 60559
Provides software application design and programming for in-house Java/ J2EE development/ecommerce systems.
Mentors and assists other programmers. Interacts with all levels of the enterprise to produce useful software applications.
Job Functions:
Evaluates, designs, and plans software solutions.
Full life cycle development and support for ecommerce web-application systems.
Programs software applications in Java, J2EE, JSP, JDBC and Websphere Commerce.
Assist the department staff to ensure new or existing applications are developed in accordance with user requirement
in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Converts specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and steps for coding.
Determines if project requires creating series of new programs or modifying existing programs that access
data stored in databases.
Analyzes, reviews, and alters programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new programs.
Assists users in solving operating problems. Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and
modifies/corrects program.
Consults with user to identify current operating procedures and evaluates user needs and requests for new or
modified computer programs.
Participates in special projects as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Background / Environment:
The Ecommerce Test Automation Engineer works on the Ecommerce Technology team.
The team builds and supports ecommerce web site which support multiple ecommerce models including: Direct-to-Consumer,
Click-and-Mortar, and B2B Wholesale.
The sites are implemented in Java/J2EE and run on IBM WebSphere Application Server and Oracle database.
The efollett.com and textbooksNow.com sites also use the IBM WebSphere Commerce framework.
Application development is done on MS Windows workstations.
Testing and Production environments are on Linux servers.
Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
Three to Six years previous experience in applications development, product delivery
Object Oriented Program Design & Implementation experience required.
Proficiency in programming Java/J2EE, Javascript, XML, XSL, including JSP & Servlet.
Webservice tools including SOAP & AJAX
Experience with IBM Websphere Commeerce a plus
Understanding of ecommerce application principles and concepts
Customer service skills
Analytical and problem resolution skills
Knowledge of computer systems and/or hardware
