FPD Engineer, Structural Steel                                                                    RF $1000.00

The Fossil Power Division is seeking a structural steel engineer who would be responsible for structural steel design of a variety of structures which support various supplied equipment, boilers, DFGD vessels, flues, ducts and piping.  Other duties include supporting  proposal activities (preparing steel estimates, developing customer specification reviews) and supporting sublet structural steel engineering efforts (monitor sublet design activities and progress).

Job Requirements :

This position requires a BSCE (Civil Engineering) and a minimum of 8 years of structural steel design in industrial and/or power plant facilities.  Familiarity with STAAD Pro (current structural analysis tool) is highly desired.  Both structural steel estimating experience and a PE license will be considered pluses.  Some travel (less than 10%) may be required.

 FPD Wet FGD System Field Engineering Specialist                                          RF $1000.00

This engineer will perform Wet FGD system operations analysis and equipment inspections, investigation of system and component operating problems, and assist in developing sales opportunities for aftermarket upgrade / rebuild projects and parts. 

Perform system and equipment inspections and provide detailed and accurate written reports of findings.

Investigate malfunctioning equipment utilizing troubleshooting skills to identify problems and make recommendations.

Prepare technical reports both for internal and external use summarizing the details of the inspections and observations, and proposing solutions.

Interact with customers, vendors, engineering, sales, and sales reps to develop long term working relationships.

Perform formal and informal customer training sessions for system and components operation and maintenance.

Direct the activities and training of customer mechanics during maintenance overhauls of components.

Develop and maintain up-to-date competence in the related technology and product lines.

Provide construction supervision and startup support, including mechanical components and controls.

Provide technical support for customers and Sales related to the systems and components.

Must have or be able to quickly develop an indepth understanding of the Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization process.

Job Requirements :

Typically requires a BS in engineering with a minimum of 6 years total experience with 3 years experience in Wet FGD systems.  Candidate must be able to travel extensively - 70% domestic and have demonstrated skills indicating excellent communication abilities.  A background in electrical and instrumentation related to the equipment and process required would be beneficial.  Location of this position is open.

Some positions reside in Akron, OH - Some positions can live anywhere but all positions require 80 to 90% travel.

No sponsorship available.  Salary 40 to 70K + bonuses depending on level of experience.

Perform as field specialist for multiple product lines with emphasis on large equipment from utility and power industries such as pulverizers or heat transfers.  Will support FES and customers with rebuilds, problem investigation, root cause determination for designed parts.  Additionally will act as a technical lead to field for support of auxillary equipment and air heaters.  Will support the various field engineering offices and customer sites by advising and consulting on equipment.   

Additional responsibilities include,

-          Provides primary technical support to FES regions and district offices for specialty of pulverizers and air heater

-          Contacts and works with customers on a regular basis

-          Assist customers with root cause determination of equipment failures or problems

-          Advises plant personnel during maintenance and rebuild of any company parts or equipment

-          Will serve as a mentor or trainer of new Field Engineering employees

 

Position requires significant travel – up to 100% during certain periods of the year such as utility outage season.  Must be able to work with minimal supervision.  Must have good communication skills

 

BS in Engineering or Technical degree preferred but will consider non degreed candidates with demonstrated experience and mechanical aptitude working on similar large equipment
